Salvation Army officers and staff from across Pennsylvania will convene at State Capitol in Harrisburg on Wednesday, May 1, to share with legislators the work The Salvation Army is doing to better the lives of tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians every day.

More than 150 Salvation Army representatives will meet their local representatives to discuss the need in their respective areas and describe the important services they provide to citizens, such as: food assistance, housing, social services, anti-human trafficking efforts, senior citizen and youth community programming, emergency disaster services, and much more. Salvation Army Assisting Residents Impacted by Severe Weather in Eastern PA & DE

Philadelphia, PA (April 16, 2019) – The Salvation Army of Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware has dispatched teams with its Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) to Sussex County, Delaware and Columbia and Sullivan Counties in Eastern Pennsylvania in response to severe storms on Monday.

 

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down in the community of Laurel, Delaware on Monday. The Salvation Army dispatched a canteen (mobile feeding unit) to the hardest hit neighborhood, where 25 homes were damaged or destroyed.  The team provided meals to impacted residents in that neighborhood and at a Red Cross shelter nearby.
