Pendel Mission to Cuba: Part Two

09_sfot-group-photoThe Salvation Army of Eastern PA and DE (Pendel) recently returned from Cuba on a special mission – to renovate the Salvation Army of Cuba’s current headquarters facility into a guest house. The guest house will provide income for the Cuba division and fund the construction of a new divisional headquarters. Additionally the group is engaging Cubans with music and arts ministries, as well as conducting the Sunday Services at the Central Corps.

The Pendel division has given tremendous support financially to this effort, including:  donated linens for the guest house, laptops, instruments, uniform shirts/ties/socks, toiletries and assorted items which were stuffed in the luggage and horn cases!

Salvation Army Leaders to Meet with PA State Lawmakers

Salvation Army officers and staff from across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania will convene at State Capitol in Harrisburg on Tuesday, October 25, to share with legislators the work The Salvation Army is doing to better the lives of thousands of Pennsylvanians every day.

120 Salvation Army representatives will meet their local representatives to discuss the need in their respective area and describe the important services they provide to citizens such as food assistance, housing, social services, anti-human trafficking efforts, senior citizen and youth community programming, emergency disaster services, and much more. Salvation Army 185 stackedThe Salvation Army of Scranton honored The Rotary of the Abingtons at its Annual Dinner at on May 11, 2016 at the Lackawanna Station Hotel, 700 Lackawanna Ave, Scranton, PA. The Salvation Army of Scranton’s Annual Dinner is an opportunity to recognize its volunteers, community partners and individuals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the betterment of the Scranton area. In doing so, the event raises funds and awareness of The Salvation Army’s local programs and services.

“The Rotary of the Abingtons has been a committed community partner of The Salvation Army of Scranton for more than 20 years, responsible for raising tens of thousands of dollars to help those in need in our community,” said Captain Lawrence Shurtleff, co-commanding officer, The Salvation Army of Scranton. “We are grateful for their service and dedication.”
