The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Unit stationed in Philadelphia will be supporting the City of Philadelphia by providing hydration to thousands of first responders on duty during the Democratic National Convention, July 23 through July 28.
The grassy fenced-in area on the corner of Broad and Brown Streets is somewhat of a special place for families at the Red Shield Residence. The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia‘s transitional housing program is safe, loving, respectful and compassionate, providing families in crisis with shelter and services as they strive towards self-sufficiency. The yard next to the building is a space where families can let their kids play and enjoy some outdoor time together there as they navigate a difficult time in their lives. The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia’s headquarters on Conshohocken Avenue was a flurry of activity the week of June 27, with the sound of power equipment echoing through the hallways. Teens with the faith-based group, World Changers, traveled from across the country on a mission trip to perform community service. The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia was one of the local agencies blessed with their help for four days.
