The Salvation Army of Eastern PA & DE’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) has deployed additional teams of staff and volunteers to flood ravaged communities across eastern and central Pennsylvania, providing valuable support to first responders and locally impacted residents. As of Wednesday, August 15, EDS operations are underway in Berks, Bradford, Columbia, Susquehanna, Schuylkill and Sullivan Counties in response to devastating flash flooding that occurred earlier in the week. This is all possible through a coordinated partnership with The Salvation Army’s Service Extension Units, Corps Community Centers and volunteers across the region.
Currently, EDS has deployed four canteens (mobile feeding operations), as well as three support vehicles and three trailers to distribute food and beverages, as well as clean-up kits to residents who are in need of cleaning their homes damaged by the floods. Salvation Army representatives are also working closely with local and state officials to assess needs and deliver service to impacted communities.
