ground-breaking.jpgOn Monday, September 10, 2018, The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region hosted an official ground breaking ceremony to begin construction of a new, multi-use Service and Worship center at 506 South 29th Street in Harrisburg. The new facility will allow The Salvation Army to provide vital human services and education programs for children, individuals and families within the organization’s service area of Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties. New Worship & Service Center Coming to Harrisburg

The Salvation Army of Harrisburg will soon embark on a long-anticipated journey. On September 10, 2018 – after more than 10 years of studies and planning – crews will break ground at 29th Street and Rudy Road and begin construction on a new Service and Worship Center

The project, scheduled for completion by late summer 2019, was designed to fill the need for increased program space for the Harrisburg Capital City Region. The current location at Green Street was constructed in 1954. With its mere 17,000 square feet, it no longer supports The Salvation Army’s local day-to-day functions. Harrisburg Wins with Women INvolved

28337075_1702456949850679_4565871603923605982_oOur WIN (Women INvolved Auxiliary) at The Salvation Army of Harrisburg is known for its annual Shoe Strut event, but members do way more than that for our community.

Recently, the women spent a few hours packing up some 350 spice and meal kits which provide food pantry clients with the dignity of healthy food that also tastes good.

Salvation Army Leaders to Meet with PA State Lawmakers

Salvation Army officers and staff from across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania will convene at State Capitol in Harrisburg on Tuesday, October 25, to share with legislators the work The Salvation Army is doing to better the lives of thousands of Pennsylvanians every day.

120 Salvation Army representatives will meet their local representatives to discuss the need in their respective area and describe the important services they provide to citizens such as food assistance, housing, social services, anti-human trafficking efforts, senior citizen and youth community programming, emergency disaster services, and much more.
