On Monday, September 10, 2018, The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region hosted an official ground breaking ceremony to begin construction of a new, multi-use Service and Worship center at 506 South 29th Street in Harrisburg. The new facility will allow The Salvation Army to provide vital human services and education programs for children, individuals and families within the organization’s service area of Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties. The Salvation Army of Harrisburg will soon embark on a long-anticipated journey. On September 10, 2018 – after more than 10 years of studies and planning – crews will break ground at 29th Street and Rudy Road and begin construction on a new Service and Worship Center
The project, scheduled for completion by late summer 2019, was designed to fill the need for increased program space for the Harrisburg Capital City Region. The current location at Green Street was constructed in 1954. With its mere 17,000 square feet, it no longer supports The Salvation Army’s local day-to-day functions.
