Enrollment Applications Being Accepted for Families with Children Ages 3 – 7
ALLENTOWN, PA – The Salvation Army Children’s Services has launched a new intensive therapy program designed to meet the unique and diverse needs of children in foster care, children that have been adopted, or children that exhibit difficulty in the area of attachment. The HALO (Healing, Attachment, Loving, Outreach) Project is a 10-week intensive outpatient intervention, originally pioneered in Oklahoma, and the only one of its kind across our region.
The Salvation Army of Eastern PA & DE and its Emergency Disaster Services program are sharing need-to-know tips and tools to better prepare people to protect themselves, their families and their communities in times of disaster.
Local Families Learn about Basic Banking, Budgeting, Home Buying, & Credit Reports
ALLENTOWN, PA – The Salvation Army of Allentown is offering free financial literacy workshops to local individuals and families thanks to a partnership with Santander Bank. Classes are taught by an instructor with Santander Bank and topics include: Basic Banking, Budgeting & Money Management, Home Buying Ownership, and Credit Reports and Loans.
The workshops will focus primarily on reinforcing knowledge, teaching new techniques, and providing opportunities for peer-to-peer support. Families will be encouraged to ask questions about financial concerns and develop short and long-term personal financial goals. The curriculum will also provide age-appropriate activities for children to enhance their understanding of money. The Salvation Army of Eastern PA & DE’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) continued for a fourth day in its efforts to provide hope, care and comfort to clean-up crews, local officials and residents impacted by this week’s flash floods in central and eastern Pennsylvania. On Thursday, August 16, teams fanned out in communities through Berks, Bradford, Columbia, Susquehanna and Schuylkill Counties, providing meals, beverages and clean-up kits to local families.
Salvation Army representatives worked to connect residents with resources through partner agencies. They are working closely with local and state officials to continually assess needs and deliver service to impacted communities. This is all possible through a coordinated partnership with The Salvation Army’s Service Extension Units, Corps Community Centers and volunteers across the region. The Salvation Army of Eastern PA & DE’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) has deployed additional teams of staff and volunteers to flood ravaged communities across eastern and central Pennsylvania, providing valuable support to first responders and locally impacted residents. As of Wednesday, August 15, EDS operations are underway in Berks, Bradford, Columbia, Susquehanna, Schuylkill and Sullivan Counties in response to devastating flash flooding that occurred earlier in the week. This is all possible through a coordinated partnership with The Salvation Army’s Service Extension Units, Corps Community Centers and volunteers across the region.
Currently, EDS has deployed four canteens (mobile feeding operations), as well as three support vehicles and three trailers to distribute food and beverages, as well as clean-up kits to residents who are in need of cleaning their homes damaged by the floods. Salvation Army representatives are also working closely with local and state officials to assess needs and deliver service to impacted communities.
